Dylan Carey is a graduate of James Cook University in Cairns, having completed a Bachelor of Laws in 2015. In Dylan's final year of study in 2014 he undertook an internship at the law firm City-Yuwa Partners in Tokyo where he worked in the international dispute resolution team, whilst studying an Advanced Business Law course at Hitotsubashi University.
Joshua McDiarmid is a Lawyer of Williams Graham Carman. Joshua works with Partner John Hayward and Associate Rhiannon Saunders within the Commercial Litigation, Governance and Risk Management, and the Insolvency and Debt Recovery teams.
Bianca joined Miller Harris Lawyers as a graduate lawyer after completing her double degree in a bachelor of laws and bachelor of commerce at James Cook University. During her graduate year at Miller Harris Lawyers, Bianca gained valuable experience in all areas of the firm including wills and estates law, commercial and property law, litigation and family law.
Kristyn Knox is a compensation lawyer practising in Maurice Blackburn’s Cairns office. She values giving back to her local community, and has an enthusiastic and genuine passion for the law.
Kristyn obtained a double degree in Law and Psychology at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, where she also completed her practical legal training. She joined Maurice Blackburn in 2014.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
Joshua completed a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2017 at James Cook University. During 2015, he was the President of Inter Alia, the James Cook University Law Student Society.
In 2017 Joshua served as Associate to His Honour Judge Morzone QC in the Queensland District Court. Joshua now works as a solicitor at Farrellys Lawyers, practicing in litigation, estates, employment and commercial law.
Rochelle graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2016 with a double degree in bachelor of laws with first class honours and a bachelor of business. Rochelle joined Miller Harris Lawyers as a graduate law clerk in 2017 after moving to Cairns from Tasmania. Rochelle was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2018 and is currently working as a family law solicitor at Miller Harris Lawyers.
Amanda Murador Committee Member
Amanda attained her Bachelor of Laws Degree from James Cook University in 2013 and her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Australian National University in 2014. Whilst studying, Amanda volunteered at the Magistrates, Supreme and District Court in Townsville via Court Network. Amanda was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2014 and subsequently the High Court of Australia in 2015. Amanda has been working full time at Apels Solicitors & Notary since February 2015.
Rhys Larsen Committee Member
Rhys Larsen joined WGC after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws in 2014 and completing his Law Graduate Traineeship at two prominent Cairns Firms.
In 2014, Rhys commenced working as an associate in AMP, Australia’s largest wealth management organisation, gaining valuable experience outside the realm of his tertiary education.
Bianka Bosnjak Committee Member
Bianka is a graduate of James Cook University in Townsville having completed a Bachelor of Laws in 2014. In 2015, she completed her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice through the Australia National University and admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Queensland in the same year. Bianka moved to Cairns at the end of 2015 and is now an employed Solicitor at Newman Family Law.
Peter Apel was admitted as a solicitor in 1989 after obtaining degrees in Commerce and Law from the University of Queensland. and holds practising certificates for all Queensland Courts as well as the Family Court, Federal Court and the High Court of Australia.
Peter is a past President of the North Queensland Law Association, which represents Solicitors throughout Northern Queensland, as well as holding Board positions on the Mareeba Wetland Foundation and The Mareeba Shire Job Training Association.
Peter Apel has been appointed as a Notary Public and is able to authenticate and witness documents for use internationally. Peter lives locally in a farming area and has a family background in business and primary production.
Michelle is currently a Legal Officer at the Office of the Public Guardian. She has practiced in a range of areas including as a Principal Solicitor, as a Senior Prosecutor, and as a criminal defense lawyer...
